Rehman Memon, Harmony School of Innovation Katy Student; Receives Three Top National Awards

(Katy/Fort Bend County)

A rising senior at Harmony School of Innovation Katy, Rehman Memon, received three national awards, adding to his already impressive transcript.  Rehman earned the 2019 Ben Carson Scholar Award for his many hours of service and passion at the Harris Health Ben Taub Trauma Center and a local senior care facility.  He will receive a $1,000 college scholarship and invitation to be recognized at the Carson Scholars Fund Annual Banquet on May 5, 2019.

Rehman already accomplished by his junior year the difficult academic, service and personal development requirements for earning the US Congressional Gold Medal Award.  Congressman Pete Olson honored him with his medal and certificate.  Additionally, Rehman entered his essay “Cancer: Emperor of All Maladies –Stand Up to Cancer” to the Emperor Science Award Program by PBS Learning and was chosen as an awardee for a scholarship and research assistantship with MD Anderson Cancer Center.  The research topic was the correlation of cancer, immune system & immunotherapy under the mentorship of Dr. J. Scutti.

Rehman has been a Harmony student for almost 8 years, is very engaged with the Project Lead the Way, PLTW, Biomedical Science courses, HOSA, the varsity soccer team as captain, and the National Honor Society as Vice President.  He, like many other students at Harmony, has a love for STEM subjects.  He has his eye on graduating in 2020 and matriculating into college to pursue his dream of “a career in biomedical engineering eventually leading to research and development in the field of biomedicine.”
