Levy Park presents Spring Break Kickoff Concert Mar. 9, with Sarah Grace and the Soul headlining

WHAT:                 Levy Park presents an afternoon of live music to kick off Spring Break with headliner Sarah Grace and the Soul, If You Have to Ask, and the Matt Serice Ensemble, along with DJ Mohawk Steve. Guests will be treated to indie, gospel, jazz, blues, hip hop music and more.Food and beverage will be available for purchase from food trucks and while no outside furniture is allowed, blankets or park chairs can be used.

WHO:  Sarah Grace is a 16-year-old Indie/Roots singer and musical powerhouse from Houston. She is best known as a semi-finalist from season 15 of The Voice, where her performance of “Amazing Grace” can be described as her signature moment, establishing her as a legitimate artist. The recording immediately shot to #3 on the overall iTunes charts, gained one million YouTube views and has been on the Gospel/Christian charts of iTunes ever since. After The Voice, Grace’s debut original release, “What I Came For,” also enjoyed a run at #1 on the iTunes Blues charts. She attends the prestigious Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts.

 If You Have to Ask is a Houston band specializing in funk, jazz, hip hop and blues. The audience is sure to be grooving to the powerful sounds of these talented musicians.

The Matt Serice Ensemble will focus on jazz, with some expert trumpet playing by Serice. He started formal piano lessons at age five. A pianist, a vocalist and also a trumpet player, Serice attended the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music, majoring in Trumpet Performance. Matt’s musical ability has earned him several awards, scholarships and a performance at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

DJ Mohawk Steve is popular on the Houston music scene and will be spinning some favorite “jams” throughout the afternoon.

WHEN:                 Saturday, Mar. 9Live music from 1 p.m. – 6 p.m., including:

Sarah Grace and the Soul, headliner (4 p.m.); If You Have to Ask, the Matt Serice Ensemble, DJ Mohawk Steve.

Earlier in the day, Levy Park will offer Bootcamp at 8:30 a.m. and Yoga at 10 a.m.
