Katy ISD Celebrates Public School Volunteer Week April 16-20, 2018            

((Katy, Texas) – Katy ISD’s Board of Trustees invites the community to join them in thanking the thousands of parent and community volunteers who support the district by declaring April 16-20, 2018, as Public School Volunteer Week.  The proclamation salutes those who through their gift of time and resources have a profound impact upon Katy ISD’s schools.  From business partners, to parents, to community leaders, this diverse group of helping hands collectively spends over 1 million hours each school year investing in the lives of students, teachers and staff.

“Our district’s volunteer spirit and willingness to serve is second to none,” declares Ashely Vann, Katy ISD Board of Trustees President.  “We are profoundly grateful for each volunteer who chooses to give our district a most precious gift: their time.  Through their leadership and service, our campus communities provide exceptional support for not only their students, but their staff and families as well.  Our board is honored to lead the district in recognizing and celebrating their service.”

Volunteers support the district through varied district and campus opportunities, many of which are administered by Katy ISD’s Partners in Education department.  This cadres of volunteers include business partners, KEYS mentors, Junior Achievement volunteers and those who serve through the district’s Volunteers in Public Schools program. Whether at the district or classroom level, this extraordinary group of people are valuable contributors to the exceptional school experience offered each Katy ISD student.
