Live Gas Pipeline Rupture Drill Highlights Katy Safety Class

Texas811, CenterPoint Energy, USIC, Enertech and Harris County ESD 48 will present the video and photo friendly Katy Safety Class on Friday, April 13, 2018 8:00 am – 10:00 am, Harris County MUD 71, 21437 Clay Road, Katy, TX 77449.

This free event brings first responders, utility, oil & gas, municipal, and county personnel together to take part in dynamic hands-on scenario safety training open to the public.

The video/photography rich pipeline rupture drill program begins at 9:00 am. Videographers are urged to arrive by 8:45 to set up gear. The public is invited to attend this live scenario, where they will have the rare opportunity of experiencing a mock gas pipeline rupture showing what happens when a gas delivery line is struck by mechanized digging equipment, and what steps need to be taken in the immediate aftermath. This event and learning experience is open and free to the public.

Harris County first responders, CenterPoint, USIC and others will work together in a unified command to control the incident.

As partners in safety, pipeline companies value the unique skills and expertise of the emergency responders. Working through this scenario, we all gain hands-on experience and learn from each other in the process.”
