Potential for Rainfall and Severe Weather Mid-Week

What is the danger?

A slow moving cold front bringing rainfall and thunderstorms across southeast Texas Tuesday night through Thursday. Chance for severe weather including hail and damaging winds, is highest during the day on Wednesday, between noon and 9pm. Heavy rainfall in some areas could cause flash flooding. This could lead to rising water on area roadways and cause hazardous driving conditions.

What you need to do:

Residents should continue to monitor local media and the National Weather Service for forecast information, and Houston TranStar and DriveTexas for road conditions.

  • Leave extra time for your commute and give yourself extra distance for braking.
  • When on the road, never drive into high water and use extreme caution at underpasses and low-lying areas where water accumulates.
  • Always remember to Turn Around, Don’t Drown. ® DO NOT DRIVE through high water and DO NOT DRIVE AROUND BARRICADES!
  • Just 2 feet of water can sweep your vehicle away.
