TIE-DOWN ROPING
Cody Quaney of Cheney, Kansas, advanced to the RODEOHOUSTON Super Series Championship in Tie-Down Roping after winning Super Series Semifinal 1. Quaney rode a horse he bought only two weeks ago, and said they’re still learning as they go.
“It boosts confidence to win [a round at] the biggest rodeo of the whole year,” Quaney said.

BAREBACK RIDING
Bill Tutor of Huntsville, Texas, won the Bareback Riding event in the Super Series Semifinal 1. Tutor has attended RODEOHOUSTON since he was young and said that the key to success is to keep the fundamentals the same each time you ride — let your body take over and turn your mind off.
“Each day is a new horse and I have to take it and get the job done,” Tutor said.

TEAM ROPING
Garrett Rogers and Russell Cardoza won the Team Roping in Super Series Semifinal 1 and secured a spot in the Championship with a time of 4.8 seconds.

SADDLE BRONC RIDING
CoBurn Bradshaw of Milford, Utah, advanced to the Super Series Championship after winning the Saddle Bronc Riding in Super Series Semifinal 1. Bradshaw said it always feels good to win no matter who you’re beating but competing against the best is always nice.
“It’s crazy how many fans there are around here,” Bradshaw said. “I wouldn’t be here without the fans.”

STEER WRESTLING
Curtis Cassidy of Donalda, Alberta, Canada, won Steer Wrestling in Super Series Semifinal 1, securing his spot in the RODEOHOUSTON Championship. Cassidy said having a good rodeo is never a bad thing. Houston puts on a good rodeo, and the animals are good livestock to compete on.
“If you can’t get excited here, you need to retire,” Cassidy said. “It’s kind of like the Super Bowl every night.”

Nellie Willliams-Miller of Cottonwood, California, advanced to the RODEOHOUSTON Super Series Championship after winning Semifinal 1. Tonight’s winning run was the fastest at RODEOHOUSTON so far in 2018 with a time of 14.63 seconds.

Trevor Reiste of Linden, Iowa, won Bull Riding in the Super Series Semifinal 1 and advanced to the RODEOHOUSTON Championship. Reiste said it feels good to surpass 90 points in the highest-marked ride yet at the Rodeo.
“Keep riding, keep busting, keep it going until the whistle blows. Do your job and do it quick,” Reiste said in regard to his successful ride tonight.

The top four from each event in the Semifinal rounds advance to the RODEOHOUSTON Super Series Championship on Saturday, March 17. The top four from each event in the Semifinal rounds will advance to the RODEOHOUSTON Super Series Championship, Saturday, March 17. The remaining six from each event in the two semifinals will compete in the Wild Card Round, Friday, March 16, where the top two from each event will advance to the Championship. Each event champion will walk away with a $50,000 payout, in addition to previous winnings. The RODEOHOUSTON Super Series continues through March 17, with the RODEOHOUSTON Super Shootout: North America’s Champions® presented by Crown Royal, on Sunday, March 18.
