Katy, Texas (March 2, 2018)—Katy Memorial Pediatrics is pleased to announce its newest addition to the medical staff, Dr. Natasha Shah.
Dr. Shah, a Houston native, started her pre-medical journey as a human biology major at The University of Texas at Austin. From there, she attended medical school at Texas A&M College of Medicine and later completed her training to become a pediatrician at UT Austin-Dell Children’s Pediatric Hospital.
“The journey was long and tough, but I cannot see myself doing anything else,” said Dr. Shah. “I enjoy being a teacher and healer to all my little patients and their families. I’m very excited to be joining such an established and amazing practice and team here at Katy Memorial Pediatrics.”
Shah is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and Texas Medical Association. Her pediatric interests include sports medicine, allergies and childhood obesity prevention and care. Shah’s interest in childhood obesity prevention is particularly timely as the National Survey of Children’s Health reports that 32.2 percent of children in Texas are overweight or obese. That is higher than the national average. Overall, the percentage of children and adolescents affected by obesity has more than tripled since the 1970s and there is much work to do.
Dr. Shah’s comprehensive approach to improving children’s health and wellness are major assets to Katy Memorial Pediatrics and to the entire West Houston-Katy community.
