What: Katy ISD will honor all of the fallen, prisoners of war, the missing in action, and those who have served and are currently serving in the armed forces at a commemorative wreath laying ceremony led by the Mayde Creek High School (MCHS) Naval JROTC. Mr. Rafael Arias, a current MCHS teacher and Marine veteran, will also be recognized not only for his dedication to Katy ISD students and their education, but for his valiant efforts in the Marine Corps. Arias was deployed twice to serve in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He received the National Defense Ribbon, Good Conduct Recognition, Global War on Terrorism Honor (twice), Iraqi Campaign Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon (twice).
