Olson Applauds President Trump’s Executive Order To Improve Healthcare For Americans

WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) today issued the following statement regarding President Trump’s Executive Order promoting healthcare choice and competition.

“America’s attempt at government run healthcare is not working,” Rep. Pete Olson said. “Premiums are escalating and choices continue to be reduced. One third of all counties in the United States have only one choice for coverage. This Executive Order is a step in the right direction to expand access to affordable options for healthcare. I applaud the President’s action on this issue.”

The Executive Order directs the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services and the Treasury to increase access to lower-priced, high-quality healthcare plans. It also directs the Department of Labor to consider ways to expand access to healthcare plans across state lines through Association Health Plans in order to lower plan price tags for millions of Americans. Finally, the Executive Order calls for the expansion of short-term limited duration insurance plans, a cheaper alternative to Obamacare plans.
