TopSpot Teams up with Young Professionals in Energy to Raise Over $52K for Hurricane Harvey Victims

Houston, TX – TopSpot Internet Marketing, a Houston-based digital marketing agency has teamed up with the Houston chapter of Young Professionals in Energy, a 501c3 organization, to raise funds for three families who lost their homes in Hurricane Harvey. Using the online fundraising platform YouCaring, the campaign raised over $52,000 in its push to a goal of $60,000. 100 percent of the funds will be given to the three, Houston-area families to help restore their lives.

Each family has a personal connection to the TopSpot team. Omar and Lacey Torres are teachers who live in Katy and are neighbors to TopSpot President, David Underwood. Kara Peddicord, who lost the home she has lived in for 29 years, is the mother of TopSpot team member, Jordan Peddicord. Finally, Christopher Sotelo, a friend of TopSpot team member, Jahnessa Quintero, survived a spinal cord injury at 21 and had just moved into his own apartment when Hurricane Harvey hit. Losing his apartment was a blow to his newly gained independence.

TopSpot has focused on monetary donations to make an immediate, meaningful impact for these families.

“The problem is that for families to get back into their homes they need sheetrock, flooring, appliances, etc.” said David Underwood, President of TopSpot.

“This is overlooked by most charities, and this is why we are raising funds for them.  For example, I have seen an actual quote for one family to get back into their home and it was $44,000!”

Team members are encouraged to contact family, friends and clients who may be interested in supporting this cause. One team member was able to raise a $10,000 donation simply by asking a family member.
