The Texas Workforce Commission and the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, in partnership with 27 local workforce development boards, also known as Workforce Solutions, industry associations and Texas Tri-Agency partners, will host statewide career exploration events for middle, high school and postsecondary students as part of Careers in Texas Industries Week, September 25-30, 2017.

These events are designed to increase awareness among students, parents and counselors about opportunities with in-demand careers in Texas industries. Employers will demonstrate the exciting and rewarding careers in their industries, and Workforce Solutions staff will showcase labor market information websites, Texas Reality Check and Texas Career Check, which assist youth in exploring careers and planning for their futures. Students will be encouraged to network with employers and learn how to pursue internships, apprenticeships and explore opportunities to learn by combining classroom knowledge and real-world work settings through the Texas Internship Challenge.
