Washington, DC – Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) today joined with his Democrat counterpart, Rep. David Price (NC-04) to launch the Congressional Moldova Caucus for the 115th Congress. This caucus will create a dialogue about the importance of US/Moldova relations, Moldova’s role in European security and in energy across Eastern Europe.
“Moldova’s efforts to foster democracy have promoted peace and stability in Europe, strengthening international partnerships,” Rep. Pete Olson said. “Their position at the edges of NATO has played a critical part regarding European and Russian affairs. Our relationship is especially important when it comes to energy security throughout Eastern Europe. I look forward to co-chairing this meaningful caucus and further improving US/Moldova relations.”
“Since its independence following the fall of the Soviet Union, the Republic of Moldova has been working toward a stable, democratic future,” Rep. David Price said. The remarkable progress the country has made is a testament to the tenacity and spirit of the Moldovan people and to Moldova’s promise and potential as a strong, independent nation. Moldova has also committed to a broader and more comprehensive engagement with Europe and the United States, including my home state of North Carolina. I look forward to the re-establishment of the Congressional Moldova Caucus to help strengthen the friendship between our two countries.”
