Three Promoted to Leadership Positions Within DPS

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) recently announced the promotion of three employees to leadership positions. The promotions include Brady Mills and Michelle Farris to newly-created chief positions — Chief of the Crime Laboratory Division and Chief of the Crime Records Division, respectively — and Ron Zilkha to Assistant Chief of Innovation and Application Services within the Information Technology Division. DPS Graduates Three New Canine Handlers

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) graduated three Troopers and two canines from a nine-week training program on Friday, Dec. 11. Saturday Appointments Still Available at Driver License Offices

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is reminding Texans that Saturday appointments remain available at many driver license (DL) offices across the state. Saturday appointments are specifically for customers to renew or replace Texas driver licenses (DLs), identification (ID) cards and Election Identification Certificates (EICs).  AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man whose remains were discovered in December 1996 in Tom Green County. Investigators estimate that the man died in the beginning of November 1996. The cause of death is unknown. New DPS Airplane Named in Honor of Fallen Trooper

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) today dedicated its newest airplane, a Pilatus PC-12 NG, at a ceremony in Edinburg. The aircraft is being named in honor of the late Trooper Ernesto Alanis, who was struck and killed by a drunk driver while making a traffic stop near McAllen in February of 1983.
