 Libraries Host Online Activities For Young Adults, Teens In March

This spring, Fort Bend County Libraries (FBCL) will offer fun, online programs specifically designed for high school-age teens in grades 9 through 12.

The programs will be either livestreamed via Webex or pre-recorded videos. Registration is required for the livestreamed programs only. An email with the link for the Webex meeting will be sent to all who register on FBCL’s online virtual calendar.

To register for a livestreamed program or to view the how-to videos, go to the Fort Bend County Libraries website – www.fortbend.lib.tx.us – click on the “Classes and Events” tab, select “Virtual Programs,” and find the virtual program on the dates listed.

Young Adult -- Adulting 101

YA: Bullet Journaling: Organizing Your Life” – Wednesday, March 17 (pre-recorded video).

In this video tutorial, discover how bullet journaling can be used to organize one’s life and increase productivity. Learn about different bullet-journaling layouts, such as a daily to-do list or a month-at-a-glance option. Discover fun, original spreads and layouts!

YA: Dressing Up: Tying a Tie & Shining Shoes” – Friday, March 26 (pre-recorded video)

Look your best for an interview or formal event! Learn how to tie a necktie with a single or double knot, and get tips for polishing shoes for a flawless shine.

 Young Adult Crafts and Activities

 YA: Mad-Hatter Hat” – Friday, March 5 (pre-recorded video)

Celebrate the 11th anniversary of the movie release of Alice in Wonderland 3D by making your own Mad-Hatter hat!

 YA: Making Magnetic Slime – Monday, March 8 (pre-recorded video).

Learn how to use iron filings, magnets, and common household ingredients to make slime that seems alive!

YA Craft: DIY Wire Rings” – Monday, March 15 (pre-recorded video)

Learn how to create custom, handmade jewelry in this online tutorial. Library staff will demonstrate how to make a simple ring out of wire and beads.

YA Abstract Quote Art” – Thursday, March 18 (pre-recorded video)

Learn how to make an abstract painting featuring a favorite quote.

The activities are free and open to the public. Registration is required for the live Webex sessions only; a link to the Webex session will be emailed to participants who register.
