County Attorney Abbie Kamin made history as the first woman and mother to serve as Harris County Attorney. She took the oath of office on June 15 surrounded by loved ones, community members, and neighborhood leaders.
“Together, we will defend the rights and liberties of every resident and ensure county government continues delivering for the people of Harris County,” said County Attorney Kamin. “At a time when our civil rights, our voting rights, our communities, and local control are being targeted, our office will stand firm with integrity and a deep respect for the law. That is our responsibility. That is my promise.”
Friends and neighbors,
It is an honor and privilege to serve you and all residents of Harris County as your County Attorney. I take this oath with the utmost sincerity and will vigilantly fulfill my duties and responsibilities to you, your family, and our community.
At this critical time in our nation’s history, we will stand steadfast in protecting the rights and liberties of the people we represent, and the democratic principles that bind us all together.
I will fight for all of Harris County’s families as fiercely as I fight for my own.
We are hyper-focused on tackling the issues that matter most to you. From initiating investigations into scam-artist roofing companies and deed thieves, to filing amicus briefs alongside our partners to stand up for local control, to testifying at state environmental hearings alongside parents whose children are impacted every single day by concrete batch plants—we are not missing a beat when it comes to standing up for Harris County families (more on this below).
As I have gotten to know the public servants in our office, I am deeply moved by their dedication and passion. The hardworking professionals of the County Attorney’s Office come to work every day understanding that the true measure of our success is found in how faithfully we serve you.
