HOUSTON – It’s always the right time to spark a passion for youth entrepreneurship. As temperatures gradually cool in the Bayou City, Lemonade Day invites all Houston-area youth to turn lemons into hot chocolate this season.
“Too cool for lemonade? No problem! Youth can easily pivot their business model to sell other beverages such as hot chocolate during Fall,” said Samara Perez, Assistant Director at Lemonade Day Houston. “What’s important is that they gain essential business skills through our free digital youth entrepreneurship program, no matter what beverages or items they sell.”
Lemonade Day is offering free access to its digital My Lemonade Day app, designed to teach youth vital business lessons they may not typically learn in the classroom. Lemonade Day fills the gap of traditional learning by offering an immersive entrepreneurial education where children learn by setting goals, making plans, solving problems, and innovating.
“My dad found Lemonadeday.org on the internet and thought it would be a great experience for me—he was right!,” said 8-year-old youth entrepreneur Jaida DeGar, owner of Le-Man’s Lemonade. “I downloaded the Lemonade Day app and started to complete the lessons. I learned that to succeed with my stand, I needed a business plan! My favorite lesson was how to make a profit because I wanted to make money to buy my mom a birthday gift!”
Youth in grades K-8 can engage in this fun, hands-on program from the comfort of their homes, making it the perfect after-school or weekend activity all year.
Through the free My Lemonade Day app, participants will enjoy interactive business and financial literacy lessons. They’ll learn to set goals, create business plans, market their products, and develop crucial life skills. Plus, they get to keep their earnings, reward themselves for their hard work, save some, open a bank account, and share a portion by supporting causes close to their hearts.
Parents, mentors, and teachers can register youth at www.lemonadeday.org/Houston today.
