Dear Katy ISD Parents/Guardians, Students, and Community Members,
As the state legislature prepares to meet this school year, Texas parents, community members, and educators will have a crucial opportunity to shape policies that affect Katy ISD students, schools, and classrooms. Starting this week, the district will begin distributing an electronic Parent & Community Education Priorities Survey to collect your insights on education laws impacting the quality of education in Katy ISD. Your feedback will guide the Board of Trustees in setting legislative priorities for the upcoming 89th Texas Legislative Session.
Next month, the Board of Trustees’ Legislative Committee will also kick off a Listening Circle tour to collaborate with parents and community members in identifying state-level legislative priorities that could benefit Katy ISD students. These discussions will supplement data collected from the Priorities Survey.
Four (4) Listening Circles have been scheduled on the following dates: Sept 11, 18, 25 and Oct 2. Each session will run from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at different locations throughout the district, with a light dinner provided. You may register to attend a Circle via the Parent & Community Education Priorities Survey.
All individuals who have an email address on file with the school district will receive the survey.
We look forward to our parents and community’s valuable input and active participation.
