There are reasons why soccer or football is the most popular sport worldwide. It has been liked by many, including kids. Kids who have started to play ball would be interested in soccer or football, no matter what their gender is.
Due to the liking of playing football, more schools are offering football or soccer training to teach how to play the sports game. PSG Academy is your official football school in Hong Kong, offering soccer training for boys and girls (all levels from 3-17 years old).
Basics of Football
Football or soccer is a sports game with these game materials:
- A ball
- Cleats
- Shinguard
- Markers for the goals
There are two teams or contenders -the game is on! There are informal games that are very easy to set up. The game has 2 teams with 11 players each. One player is the goalkeeper who can only hold the ball, but only in the penalty area he or she is defending. The rest players (10 players) are the field players to play to score by putting the ball into the opponent’s goal. To goal the ball, they do the following:
- dribbling
- passing
- shooting
Field players use any part of their body except the arms or hands. The game’s duration is 90 minutes with the change of ends and an interval of max of 15 minutes after half time (45 minutes) of the game. The referee makes an allowance for the time lost in every half. When the game is over, the team with the most goals (scores based on the number of times the ball goes in the goal) will be the winner.
In case of a “draw”, a result is reached by extra time (30 minutes duration) or a permanent shoot-out.
The ball
The ball used in the game is spherical with a measurement of 14-16 oz mass and 27-28 cm in circumference. The balls used in an international or league match must be approved by FIFA. Every professional league uses a specific ball.
The football players
Both sides of the team have 11 players each in a match. Substitutes are available. There are 4 classes in 11 players are divided:
- Defenders. Players try to stop the other team (contending team) from scoring by protecting their goal.
- Strikes. Players who are the attackers or forwarders try to score goals by kicking the ball to the other team’s goal.
- Midfielders. Players in between the strikers and defenders. They pass the ball to the strikers to score. Midfielders help defenders and strikers to score.
- Goalkeepers. A player who tries to stop the other team from scoring by kicking the ball not to the goal or keeping it not to the goal using hands is possible. The goalkeeper is the only player who can touch the ball by hand.
Football is a very engaging ball game that many would love to play. Kids from 3 to 17 years old can enroll in the official football school to nurture them to become professional football players.
