Learn the latest management practices for tree care in an urban landscape at a Nov. 17 conference in Katy.
The Houston Urban Tree Conference will be held from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Houston Community College-Katy Campus, 22910 Colonial Parkway in Katy.
The program is presented by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, HCC and the Houston Area Urban Forestry Council.
“Our urban landscape trees took a hard beating with this summer’s heat,” said Boone Holladay, Fort Bend County Extension Agent. “Compound that with the recent freeze damage that many of these trees endured over the past two winters and we are starting to see many trees throughout our region dying off. Implementing the practices of proper tree care are more crucial than ever to ensure our landscape tree canopy stays strong and healthy for years to come.”
The conference will cover four topics: “Mulching-Healthy Soils and Water Conservation,” “Tools to Manage Trees in Times of Stress,” “Irrigation Technologies for Tree Management” and “The Significant Value of Mature Trees: How to Preserve This Infrastructure Asset.”
