How to Properly Apply Perfume

We all like to smell good, so applying perfume is a crucial, quick, and usually final step in our beauty routine. But, we don’t want to be overwhelming and we also don’t want our perfume to fade away fast. So, what do we do?

In this short article, we’re going to give you a quick four-step guide to applying your perfume properly. So, whether you’re getting ready for a big night out or want to stop wasting perfume, you’ve come to the right place. Read on for everything you need to know about properly applying perfume.

Spray on Pulse Points

“Pulse points?!” I hear you ask. It makes so much sense, that even the perfume creators over at Clean Beauty explain in their blog, you only want to spray your perfume on your pulse points. These are the points located on your inside wrists, elbows, behind your ears, and just below your belly button. They are the areas where you can feel your pulse the most as the veins sit very close to the skin. These areas emit extra motion and heat, allowing for the scent of perfume to diffuse more readily. Dabbing or spraying perfume on these spots will help the scent last longer throughout the day.

Don’t Rub It In

When applying perfume to these spots, it’s important to spray or dab – don’t rub! We have all seen people do it, men and women spray perfume on their neck and wrists and rub it all in. Well, it’s actually one of the worst things you can do! The perfume needs time to settle into your skin and dry in. If you rub the wet perfume, it spreads away and evaporates before the full scent can be transferred. This means that the scents you thought you were getting might not even transfer! Spray and dab if you must, but never, ever rub it in.

Spray and Walk

You’ve seen it in the movies, and it turns out it’s actually a great move. Spritzing your perfume into the air to create a cloud and walking through it is actually quite a smart way of applying your scents. This is a great way of applying enough perfume to your whole body without making the scent completely overpowering. No one likes the person with insanely strong perfume on – it’s distracting and invasive. Dab your pulse points and have a gentle spritz and walk to get a nice coverage without being the overpowering one.

Add to Your Clothes

Speaking of covering the whole body, there’s no harm in wearing clothes when walking through your spritz cloud! It’s a nice way of getting the full, rounded perfume scent to stick around all day. It won’t smell exactly the same as it does on the skin because it won’t be interacting with your natural oils and scents, but it’ll certainly add a nice final layer to your perfume.

There you have it – the four steps and tips you’ll need to take to ensure you’ll have even coverage of your perfume that’s not overpowering and lasts all day long. Whatever perfume you wear, we’re sure these tips will work a treat.
