After Five Years in LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch, Dish Society Has Expanded Its Footprint in a New Space Less Than 500 Feet Away
Dish Society’s Katy customers will be impressed the next time they stop by their favorite farm-to-table restaurant. To help meet increased demand, Founder and CEO Aaron Lyons has nearly doubled the seating capacity of the brand’s locale inside LaCenterra’s Cinco Ranch, which opened in 2015, by migrating to a new space formerly occupied by The Blue Fish. With substantially more square footage, a prime location on the shopping mall’s prominent green, and the opportunity to start fresh with décor that better aligns with Dish Society’s most recent restaurant buildouts, Lyons is happy to continue to serve the Katy community in a manner that better represents his company’s vision and culture.
“I love the way it came together – the size, the openness, the brightness, the airiness, plus the patio is literally on the green – parents can eat while watching their kids play,” says Lyons. The 80-seat covered patio with heaters will be functional year-round, while accordion-style floor-to-ceiling glass doors opening onto the patio and facing the green will remain open when weather permits. “Pride is one of our core values and we are proud of this place. Our staff who transitioned over from our original Katy location are standing taller – they’re proud and it’s showing up in our service. It’s very cool to see,” says Lyons.
Though updates to the new space were primarily cosmetic, Dish Society’s Katy 2.0 location is quite the looker – modern, fresh, clean, open and airy. “We’ve added a fresh coat of paint, new tile and new furnishings, along with finishes and design elements inspired by the buildout of our Southside Commons location,” says Lyons, referring to Dish Society #6, which opened in mid-December 2020 in the West University/City of Southside/Bellaire area. Another upgrade to the Katy space is the 20-seat, full-service bar, which serves as a focal point similar to that of Dish Society’s Heights location.
Expanding from 2600-sq.ft. to 4100-sq.ft. means the new Katy restaurant now has the capability to comfortably seat 100 indoors, allowing staff to welcome more patrons and making it much easier to navigate. “Now parents can cruise in with a stroller, sit down and enjoy their meal – that’s something that could not have happened at our other location,” says Lyons. “I think this move will open the door to more frequent visits from existing customers as well as broaden our customer base.”
The kitchen also boasts a larger footprint, allowing staff to benefit from better workflow. Service and hours remain the same, offering counter service for breakfast, lunch and weekend brunch and table service during social hour and dinner. The menu features the brand’s signature selection of locally sourced, scratch-made Southern-inspired dishes, including crowd favorites such as the Houston hot chicken sandwich, brisket-stuffed sweet potato, pork belly hash, plenty of fresh salads and the beloved farmers plate, which allows diners to build their perfect meal.
Two dedicated parking spaces are available for contactless curbside pickup managed by one of Dish Society’s staff stationed to welcome guests and process to-go orders. Additional parking is available within the outdoor shopping center’s two parking garages and street parking throughout.
