Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union generously donated $500 to Katy ISD’s Schmalz Elementary School’s Music Department following damage from last week’s Winter storm. Due to below-freezing temperatures, the school suffered a busted water pipe in their Music Department, causing flooding and damage in at least two classrooms.
“Over two decades worth of musical instruments were stored in the closet were the damage occurred,” said Charlotte Gilder, principal at Schmalz Elementary. Ms. Gilder added “The district has been working around the clock to make repairs to the classrooms and save as many instruments as possible.” Ms. Gilder showed her appreciation to the credit union stating, “Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union has been an excellent business partner to the school and the donation from the credit union will go towards replacing damaged musical instruments for the students.”
“At Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union, we care about supporting our schools and the importance of quality education in our community,” said Shellye Carpenter, Vice President, Marketing at BVSCU. “Music education provides unique opportunities for literacy preparation and is an important aspect of providing children with a well-rounded education.”
