Republican or Democrat, conservative or liberal, before Texans head to the polls, there is one question we should all be asking: Is Texas better off today than it was four years ago?
Are our families financially stronger? Are our schools improving? Are our communities safer? Is our economy growing in a way that benefits everyday Texans? And most importantly, have our current policies helped Texas move forward, or have political disagreements distracted us from real progress?
These questions should matter more than party loyalty.
Texas has always valued freedom, independence, opportunity, and personal responsibility. As we move forward, we should expect our elected leaders to protect those values while respecting our individual privacy, religious beliefs, and political differences.
Our freedoms should not depend on which political party we support.
Questions We Want Our Political Leaders to Answer
The Katy News has reached out to the teams of James Talarico and Dan Patrick to seek their perspectives on important issues facing Texans.
We want to know where they stand on questions such as:
- Bibles in schools: Should the Bible be part of public school education, and how should schools respect different religious beliefs?
- Abortion: Should Texas maintain its current abortion restrictions, and what exceptions should exist?
- Parental rights: How much control should parents have over their children’s education?
- School vouchers: Are school choice policies improving education or creating new challenges for public schools?
- Gun rights: How can Texas protect Second Amendment freedoms while improving public safety?
- Immigration: Are current border security policies working?
- Property taxes: Are Texas homeowners and small businesses receiving meaningful financial relief?
- Privacy: Is the government doing enough to protect our personal information and individual freedoms?
- Religious freedom: Are Texans free to practice their beliefs without government interference or discrimination?
- Government accountability: How should voters measure whether elected officials are delivering on their promises?
We welcome their responses and believe Texans deserve clear answers from every candidate, regardless of party.
Vote for Your Beliefs, Not Political Trends
Social media trends come and go. Campaign slogans disappear. Political arguments eventually fade.
But the laws and policies we vote for can affect our families for generations.
Before choosing a candidate, look beyond party labels. Examine their record, understand their policies, and consider whether their vision aligns with your values and the future you want for Texas.
The goal should not simply be for Republicans or Democrats to win. The goal should be for Texas and its people to succeed.
We Want to Hear From Texans
Do you believe Texas is moving in the right direction? Are our current policies improving your quality of life? What would you like to see change?
At The Katy News, we believe these conversations matter, especially here in Katy and the surrounding communities.
Don’t let political trends make your decisions. Ask questions, stand by your beliefs, examine the facts, and make your voice count.
Because at the end of the day, we may not all vote the same way, but we all call Texas home.
