Harris County, TX, August 31, 2026 – Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo and the Harris County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management (HCOHSEM) are monitoring the development of a tropical system that could bring heavy rainfall to parts of Harris County beginning Tuesday morning. HCOHSEM is currently activated at Level III: Increased Readiness.
The main impacts that Harris County residents can expect are thunderstorms, heavy rainfall beginning Tuesday morning and potential flash flooding. Most areas will see rainfall totals of between 3-6 inches, although some areas may see isolated totals of 6-9 inches. Street flooding is possible in areas where the heaviest rain falls. Harris County will be under a flood watch from 1 am Tuesday morning to 7 am Wednesday morning.
