The Texas Longhorns completed their second preseason scrimmage Saturday as preparations continue for the 2026 college football season.
Texas reportedly ran approximately 120 plays under extremely hot conditions at Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium. The defense delivered the strongest performance, forcing four turnovers while creating consistent pressure and tight coverage.
Quarterback Arch Manning and the offense struggled with efficiency early, but Manning recovered to throw touchdown passes to Ryan Wingo and Emmett Mosley V. Head coach Steve Sarkisian emphasized that the team must improve its ball security before the regular season begins.
The Longhorns are also addressing offensive-line injuries and changes at linebacker following the dismissal of Ty’Anthony Smith. Despite those concerns, Texas completed the scrimmage without suffering any new injuries.
Ranked No. 5 in the AP preseason poll, Texas will open its season against Texas State on September 5 in Austin.
Information based on reports from Burnt Orange Nation and the University of Texas Athletics.
