In just the past few months, heartbreaking acts of domestic violence have shaken our Houston-area communities. Each one a painful reminder that, for too many, home is not a place of safety — it’s a place of fear.
Here at Fort Bend Women’s Center, we’re seeing that reality every single day. This year, the number of survivors seeking our help has nearly doubled. In 2024, we served an average of 267 survivors each month. Today, it’s 410 — women, children, and families who come to us seeking shelter, safety, and a chance to begin again.
But while the need has grown, our funding has not. In fact, we’ve lost more than $800,000 in government funding this year. Like many nonprofits, we face uncertain times. Yet our resolve has never been stronger.
$800K in cuts. Double the need. It’s time to act.
This holiday season, we ask you to be the light in the darkness. Your generosity helps keep our doors open — and hope alive — for those who need it most.
A monthly gift provides ongoing stability so we can respond the moment someone reaches out for help. And if a monthly gift isn’t possible, a one-time donation or even sharing our message makes a difference.
Every act of kindness, every dollar given, every story shared — it all helps bring safety, dignity, and healing to survivors right here in our community. Together, we can shine a light on survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault.
