Lone Star Legal Aid Celebrates Pro Bono Week with Free Trainings, Client Outreach, and Volunteer Opportunities

HOUSTON, TX — October 17, 2025 — Lone Star Legal Aid (LSLA) will mark the American Bar Association’s National Celebration of Pro Bono with a slate of free trainings for attorneys, a client-facing outreach event, and opportunities to get involved across our Texas and Arkansas service area. Pro Bono Week recognizes volunteer lawyers and legal professionals whose service expands access to justice for neighbors who cannot afford counsel.

Community Presentation & Intake Support
LSLA staff will share information about free civil legal services and assist community members with completing prescreening forms for potential assistance. Each form will be reviewed for eligibility and referred for intake by our team.

FREE Guardian Ad Litem Training (State Bar of Texas–approved; MCLE credit available (1.50 ethics))
Designed for attorneys who accept—or are considering—Guardian Ad Litem appointments in Texas courts. Practical, trauma-informed strategies for interviewing children and vulnerable adults; drafting reports; testifying; and navigating ethics and compensation. No cost; advance registration required.
