The joint announcement marks a significant moment of unity among Democratic leaders and candidates in the district. The three emphasized that while Republicans are working to divide communities through gerrymandered maps and partisan politics, Democrats in the TX-18 are coming together to ensure the district has a strong voice in Congress without further delay.
“Today is about unity,” said Christian Menefee. “Rain and Corisha are rising leaders in our community who have fought tirelessly for housing justice, strong schools, and fair wages. Their decision today isn’t about stepping aside—it’s about stepping up for our district. While Republicans in Austin and Washington try to divide us, we are showing what it looks like to come together. Together, we will win this race and deliver for the people of District 18.”
Corisha Rogers, who centered her campaign on attainable housing and strengthening public schools, emphasized the urgency of this race:
“Christian has proven he is willing to take on the biggest fights. He’s defended our voting rights, he’s stood up against Trump’s attacks, and he’s protected Harris County from corporations that would destroy our communities in the name of profit. To anyone sitting on the sidelines right now, I want to say: don’t sit this one out. This is your fight too. Your voice, your energy, your organizing power are what will shape the future of this city, this district, and this country.”
Ebony “Rain” Eatmon, a community advocate focused on housing and voter access, said:
“I know how important it is to have intentional leadership—leaders who truly center the community. That’s why I’m proud to stand with Christian today. We cannot allow ourselves to be divided while the state government is determined to disenfranchise us, because they know they haven’t done the work to earn our vote. Christian has the record, the resume, and the structure to win this race and deliver for our people. That’s the kind of leadership we need representing District 18.”
The announcement comes as the district remains without representation in Congress, leaving TX-18 residents without a vote on critical issues ranging from appropriations to disaster relief. By uniting behind a single Democratic candidate now, Menefee, Eatmon, and Rogers stressed that the district can avoid further delay and ensure the community’s voice is restored in Washington.
“Republicans can redraw maps, suppress votes, and play politics with our lives—but they cannot divide us,” Menefee said. “Today we send one clear message: you cannot divide Texas’s 18th Congressional District, and we will not be denied.”
