Actor and director Sean Astin to serve as guest speaker at CHRISTUS Foundation for HealthCare’s Spring Luncheon

(HOUSTON) – CHRISTUS Foundation for HealthCare announces actor and director Sean Astin as guest speaker for its 21st annual Spring Luncheon on Friday, March 28 at River Oaks Country Club,1600 River Oaks Blvd.

The Spring Luncheon honors community leaders and raises funds for CHRISTUS Foundation for HealthCare’s healthcare and social service programs. Co-chaired by Margaret O’Donnell and Terra Seidel, this year’s event will benefit CHRISTUS mental health initiatives and will honor Houston Philanthropy Circle (HPC) for its essential contributions to building impactful connections within our community.

Astin is widely celebrated for his unforgettable roles in film and television. Most recently, he played Bob Newby in Season 2 of Netflix’s “Stranger Things.” Astin is also renowned for his iconic performances in “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, “Rudy” and “The Goonies.” Astin will share his personal journey with mental health awareness, shaped by his experiences with his late mother, actress Patty Duke, who faced her own mental health challenges.

The foundation will proudly honor HPC with the Legacy Award, an award given to recognize and honor those who have demonstrated commitment to continue the legacy of the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word – Houston by promoting health and welfare to people in need. HPC has created a powerful platform for organizations like CHRISTUS to collaborate with community leaders and amplify their impact. CHRISTUS has been featured in HPC’s Nonprofit Symposiums, which bring together faith-based nonprofits and philanthropists to foster transformative partnerships.
