Houston, TX – February 3, 2025 – The Salvation Army is excited to announce the grand opening of the new Salvation Army of Greater Houston Command Center located in the Near Northside Community on February 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM. This is the culmination of a revisioning of Salvation Army Area Command administration, and services to the Greater Houston Area. A big thank you goes out to Houston community for generously supporting this $17,000,000 project. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 2407 North Main Street, Houston, Texas 77009, marking a significant milestone in the organization’s ongoing commitment to serve the Greater Houston community.
The event will be hosted by key figures including Advisory Board Chair, Vicki West, Advisory Board Past Chair, Tom Forney, Salvation Army Texas Divisional Leaders, Lt. Colonels Art and Ann Penhale, and Salvation Army Houston Area Commanders Majors Rob and Carolynn Webb. The grand opening celebration will highlight The Salvation Army’s expanded presence and enhanced services for individuals and families in need across the Greater Houston Area.
The new Command Center is poised to provide vital programs and resources to the community, including navigation services, veterans services, emergency assistance, youth outreach, housing support, and more. This expansion underscores The Salvation Army’s deep commitment to making a lasting, positive impact on the lives of Houston residents.
