WHO: The Tutu Live Krewe is the first all-female, all-adult marching krewe based in Galveston, Texas. The krewe’s mission is to offer mature women, aged 25 and older, a unique opportunity to join a sisterhood of enthusiastic, inspiring community members, who are accepting of all members, regardless of size, race, religion, sexual preference, or dance ability. Tutu Live Krewe members strengthen each other, embrace Mardi Gras culture, and promote community awareness. Confidence, happiness, humor, and kindness represent the Krewe’s core values.
Tutu Live Krewe is a crowd pleaser and an advocate for many charitable causes:
- Typically, 50 to 60 krewe members participate in Mardi Gras parades, St. Patrick’s parades, July 4thparades, and Christmas parades. The krewe has been featured in Coast Monthly Magazine, The Galveston Daily News, The Houston Chronicle, Texas Monthly, The New York Times, CW 39 TV, i45 Now, KHOU TV, KPRC TV, and many other media outlets.
- The krewe routinely supports causes such as the Galveston Police Department’s Blue Santa program and the Special People’s Ball.
