HOUSTON, Texas (Jan. 31, 2024) – Houston PetSet, a local nonprofit organization working to end Houston’s homeless animal crisis, is hosting a FREE microchip and vaccine event for dogs and cats on Saturday, Feb. 3 at the Sunnyside Multi-Service Center located at 4410 Reed Road.
Houston PetSet staff and volunteers will administer chips, rabies, and other core vaccines funded by Petco Love. Families can bring up to five animals provided they are safely controlled around people and animals with the use of a leash or pet carrier.
The microchips and vaccines for the animals will be distributed by appointment only. All pets must be registered in advance for this event. Click follow this link to register: https://bit.ly/HPSClinicHQ.
The City of Houston Municipal Code requires that anyone who owns, keeps, possesses, or has control of a dog or cat four months of age or older must have his or her pet registered, vaccinated against rabies every year, and has a registered microchip. “Microchipping and vaccinations are not just legal requirements, but crucial steps in ensuring the safety and happiness of our pets. Microchips provide a lifeline, helping us reunite lost pets with their families, while vaccinations protect them from preventable diseases. By taking these simple yet impactful measures, we can collectively work towards creating a community where every animal is cherished, protected, and given the chance for a loving home,” commented Tama Lundquist, co-president of Houston PetSet and animal advocate.
Houston PetSet representatives will be available for interviews. For media inqueries and to RSVP, please contact Lisa Tynan (details above).
