Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston eighth annual Sporting Clays Tournament presented by Troy Construction on Nov. 17 raises a record $309,000 for programs

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston’s (BGCGH) eighth annual Sporting Clays Tournament on Nov. 17, presented by Troy Construction, brought in a record $309,000 to provide critical funds supporting Boys & Girls Clubs in five counties. The monies raised ensure that the Clubs will be able to continue to provide essential programming after school and in the summer to children and teens who need it the most. Additional sponsors included Momentum Midstream – Golf Cart Sponsor; OCuSOFT – Bayou City Bites Sponsor and Northern Trust – Green Clay Sponsor.

The event, held at the Greater Houston Sports Club at 6700 McHard Rd. in Fort Bend County, was chaired by Brant Baird and Michael Vinson and began with a breakfast at 9 a.m. This year, there were 150 participants in the Sporting Clays Tournament, with an additional 30 non-playing guests, for a total of 180.

Taking home first place honors were Tyler Cooper and Matt McDaris. Second place winners included Casey Baltzell, George Bushcardt, Ryan Wasaff and Landon Ehlinger, while Josh Schlensker and Corey Baker received third place honors.

“Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston extends its heartfelt gratitude to our presenting sponsor, Troy Construction, for its invaluable corporate support of the 2023 Sporting Clays Tournament. We also commend event chairs Bryant Baird and Michael Vinson for their hard work and exceptional leadership in making this the most successful sporting clays event to date,” says Kevin Hattery, President and CEO.

“This unwavering generosity empowers us to advance crucial programming across all our Clubs,” Hattery continues. “Through pillars of academic support, healthy lifestyles, character development, and workforce readiness, our members will continue to flourish and thrive.”
