President Shad Hanis of the Katy Texas Stake, who hosted the event, “We are so grateful to honor and celebrate those who have worn the uniform. The veterans in our community are an example to all of us, because of them we enjoy our freedoms and liberties. We can’t say thank you enough.”
At the close of the event, each veteran in attendance was asked to stand and was presented with a small gift from several youth volunteers. One of the youth volunteers, Kaikane Napoleon, said “presenting the veterans with a small gift and thanking them for their service was impactful. That is an experience I will never forget.”
