- JORDAN HIGH SCHOOL HEAD COACH MIKE RABE
Class 5A: Brock Foster, Senior, QB, Friendswood High School

Opponent: Magnolia West High School
2023 was a season of considerable change for Brock, who wrapped up the year by completing 33 of 51 passes for a school-record 519 yards and three touchdowns and rushing for 45 yards and two scores in a 48-47 win over Magnolia West.
Hampered by injuries last season, Brock packed on 40 pounds during the offseason and made it through the season unscathed while picking up the fundamentals of new coach Jordan Johnson’s balanced offense. He had just four interceptions in 267 attempts with 25 touchdowns and proved to recruiters he can play quarterback in college if given the opportunity, his coach says.
“Brock has gone above and beyond what we asked of him. He was adaptable in learning a new system and flourishing in it, and he’s involved the other players around him. It’s been all positive for him.”
– FRIENDSWOOD HIGH SCHOOL HEAD COACH JORDAN JOHNSON
Class 4A: Braxton Roberts, Senior, QB, Panther Creek High School
Mascot: Panthers
Opponent: Celina High School
Braxton Roberts was unfazed in the regular season finale with a district championship at stake. Roberts was 27-of-37 for 324 yards and four touchdowns and helped deliver Panther Creek a district title in its second year of varsity football. The Panthers are 9-1 and face Kaufman in the bi-district round of the 4A Division I playoffs.
“I’m so proud of the way Braxton played. We put a lot of responsibility on our quarterback and he made great decisions all night. He did a great job of running our two-minute offense when it mattered most and put us in a position to win at the end. The moment is never too big for him.”
- PANTHER CREEK HIGH SCHOOL HEAD COACH CLINT SURRATT
Class 3A: Cutter Burrow, Senior, RB/LB, Palmer High School
Mascot: Bulldogs
Opponent: Rice High School
Junior two-way player Cutter Burrow had one of those performances that had everyone talking, Burrow dominated on the offensive side of the ball with13 carries for 201 yards and two touchdowns. On the season, Burrow has collected 20 touchdowns, 15 on the ground and five through the air.
The Palmer Bulldogs finished the season 4-1 in district securing 2nd place and now face the Leonard Tigers in playoffs.
“Cutter Burrow is one of the best football players, and person, I have had the pleasure to coach. He has been recognized for his abilities on the field with accolades and praise from opposing coaches. Along with his athletic achievements, Cutter excels academically, making it to State UIL competition as well as being first in his senior class. Cutter has contributed greatly to the success we have had over the past three years as a team. He has taken the reins as a captain and his leadership has gotten us to where we are this year. I couldn’t think of a more deserving student/athlete than Cutter Burrow to receive this award. “
- PALMER HIGH SCHOOL HEAD COACH BLAKE BOST
Class 2A: Logan Jenkins, Senior, QB/K, Collinsville High School
Mascot: Pirates
Opponent: Chico High School
Logan Jenkins and the Collinsville Pirates finished the season with a bang as they defeated the Chico Dragons 61-7. The Pirates finished with a perfect 6-0 record and finished first in their district.
Jenkins finished the game with 24 pass completions for 483 yards and seven touchdowns which is symbolic of his high school career. He also contributed to the kicking game and successfully made three extra points.

Jenkins and the Pirates now move on to the state playoffs where they will face off against the Archer City Wildcats.
“What separates Logan from other quarterbacks in the state is his ability to deliver the football and understanding of what defenses are trying to do to him. He can do it from the pocket or outside the pocket on the run. His eyes are always down field looking for receivers to come open or work open and if things break down, he can use his feet to escape the pocket and go run for the first down or a touchdown. You can see when he plays, he’s a three-sport athlete using all three sports to make him the quarterback he is. What people don’t get to see is the genuine, smart and caring kid he is. He always takes the time to make the little kids around feel special. Not only is he a great quarterback but also a great kid.”
- COLLINSVILLE HIGH SCHOOL HEAD COACH GARRETT PATTERSON
Private School: Preston Kyle, Senior, K, Saint Pius X High School
Mascot: Panthers
Opponent: Central Catholic High School
Being a kicker is sometimes a thankless job, but the fans of St. Pius X High School should send out a huge thank you to senior kicker Preston Kyle because of his performance last week and on the season.
Kyle was 5-for-5 on extra points and 2-for-2 on fields goals, which is a great accomplishment by themselves, but when you consider the field goals were from 45 and 55 yards it makes it all that more special.
In fact, it was a special game for Kyle as he broke two school records, the most field goals in a season and longest field goal with that 55-yarder.
The Panthers move on to face Prestonwood Christian in the TAPPS 2023 High School playoffs.
“Preston is the most dynamic specialist that we have ever coached. His attention to detail as well as his desire to be great are unmatched. He excels in the classroom and on the playing field. He is a true representative of the Veritas Leaders at St. Pius X High School. “
- SAINT PIUS X HIGH SCHOOL HEAD COACH GREG CRANFILL
