[HOUSTON] 20 Houston-area Harmony Public School seniors have been selected as 2023 QuestBridge National Scholarship program finalists. These students who attend Harmony School of Ingenuity-Houston, Harmony Science Academy – Houston, Harmony School of Advancement- Houston and Harmony School of Discovery – Houston are among the nearly 3,500 outstanding students selected out of more than 13,000 applications.
Out of the finalists, roughly 30% will be awarded a full-ride scholarship. At the same time, the remaining students will have the opportunity to receive a hefty financial aid package through the Regular Decision program.
QuestBridge is a national nonprofit that connects the nation’s most exceptional, low-income youth with leading colleges and opportunities. QuestBridge aims to increase the percentage of talented low-income students attending the nation’s best colleges and to support them to achieve success in their careers and communities. Some participating academic institutions include Brown University, Stanford University, and Yale University.
Each finalist must show substantial academic achievement (with an average grade point average of 3.90 or higher), high test scores on the SAT or ACT, financial circumstances, strong character, and exemplary accomplishments and leadership roles in extracurricular and community activities while ranking in the top 10 percent of their graduating class.
On Match Day, December 1, 2023, QuestBridge finalists will receive notification if they are selected as National College Match Scholarship recipients for early admission. These students will receive a comprehensive scholarship to one of the nation’s top colleges, which will cover the total cost of attendance, including tuition, books, room and board, and additional expenses for four years.
Harmony Public Schools is a Texas-born, Texas-wide public charter school system employing roughly 4,000 school professionals statewide. Harmony’s Houston Districts offers 25 campuses serving PreK-Grade 12 students in five cities, including Houston, Katy, Sugar Land, Bryan, and Beaumont. The school’s curriculum places a heavy focus on STEM skills, character education, project-based learning, and college readiness.
