Stratford Playhouse will present the hysterically funny ‘The Play That Goes Wrong’ Friday through Sunday, October 20-22, and Thursday through Saturday, October 26-28.

Originally produced on the West End Stage in London and then brought to Broadway, this “show within a show” begins with the ‘Cornley University Drama Society’ attempting to put on a 1920s murder mystery, but as the title suggests, everything that can go wrong…does, and as the accident-prone actors continue with the show in bewilderment, the mayhem on stage gets more and more chaotic.

Stratford Director David Clayton comments about the uniqueness of directing a show like this, “Every show has things go wrong. The important thing is how the actors react to them. With this show, we know something is going to go wrong. (The title gives it away.) The biggest challenge is creating the ‘illusion of the first time.’ This means audiences watch the show and believe that the things going wrong are happening for the first time and the actors are reacting in a believable way and not an over-rehearsed manner.”

Awarded the Olivier Award for Best New Comedy, the WhatsOnStage Best New Comedy in 2014 and the BroadwayWorld UK’s Best New Play Award in 2015, “The Play That Goes Wrong” is not one to miss.

Tickets for The Play That Goes Wrong are $10-25 and available for purchase online at www.stratfordplayhouse.com.  Performances are scheduled for October 20, 21, 26 and 28 at 7:30pm, with matinee performances at 2:30 p.m. on October 21, 22 and 28 at the Stratford Auditorium, 14555 Fern Drive.
