The Houston Health Foundation and Bethel’s Global Reach Inc. will receive federal grants totaling $250,000 to promote drug-free communities and reduce substance abuse among young Texans, U.S. Senator John Cornyn announced today. The funding comes from the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy’s (ONDCP) Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Program and is part of a $73 million investment to mobilize communities to prevent and reduce youth substance abuse across the country. This funding was authorized by Sen. Cornyn’s Substance Abuse Prevention Act.

“When it comes to protecting young Texans from the dangers of substance abuse, we must use every tool in our toolbox,” said Sen. Cornyn. “I am proud to have helped provide this investment to prevent and reduce substance abuse in Houston and am glad these groups will receive more resources to support our next generation’s health.”
