The Countdown To Houston’S Most Celebrated Corgi Race Begins As 128 Dogs Descend On Kirby Ice House To Benefit Barc
Houston’s favorite 20-yard dog race is back at Kirby Ice House next month with a fun-filled afternoon of food trucks, crawfish, backyard games, and most importantly, Corgi Racing with the top four pups taking home prizes.
The 36,500 square foot sports bar will be transformed into a dog track to accommodate four-legged friends as they race for the Golden Corgi Trophy! Drink specials will be flowing until 5 pm, including $5 Mimosas, Bloody Marys, and house cocktail “Kirby Fresca” made with sponsor Tito’s Handmade Vodka. Corgis are invited to participate with a $15 donation benefitting BARC, who will be onsite raising awareness for their cause while also showcasing several adoptable dogs. WHO: Kirby Ice House loves all canines, but in order to keep things fair, only Corgis will be allowed to enter. No mixes. All dogs must have two people accompanying them (strictly 21 and up), one handler at the start and one catcher at the finish.
WHEN: Saturday, April 22. Check-in time will be at 12 pm with the races starting at 1 pm and going until they have a winner around 5-6 pm. (There will be a rain-out day the following Saturday if the event cannot be held on this date).
