I-10 Shootout Featuring Top Girls’ Teams

The annual I-10 Shootout girls’ soccer tournament is underway, and Tompkins and Jordan could meet Saturday in a local clash.

Both teams are playing in the Falcon Bracket of the 8-bracket, 63-team event, which includes matches Thursday-Saturday. Tompkins dominated Mansfield Legacy, 6-1, on Thursday night at home. And the Jordan girls held off Cy Ranch, 2-1, in the bottom half of the same bracket.

So if Tompkins defeats Tomball Memorial on Friday at 6 p.m. at Tompkins and Jordan defeats Cy-Fair at 4 p.m. Friday at Jordan, then the new district opponents will test their mettle on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Legacy Stadium.

In early play at the Spartan Bracket, host Seven Lakes downed Montgomery, 3-0. The Lady Spartans will face Lakeland on Friday at 2 p.m. at Seven Lakes. Other teams in the winner’s bracket include Memorial and Cy Woods.

The Katy girls defeated Clear Springs, 2-0, on Thursday and will face La Porte Friday at 2 p.m. in the Tiger Bracket at Katy. The winners will face either Elkins or St. Agnes on Saturday at noon at Legacy.

Taylor’s Lady Mustangs raced past Cy Falls, 4-0, on Thursday. They will meet Lamar on Friday at 2 p.m.in the Mustang Bracket at Taylor. The winner will then face Deer Park or Clements on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Legacy.

Mayde Creek crushed Aldine Davis, 8-0, on Thursday in Ram Bracket soccer action. They will meet Westbury on Friday at 6 p.m. at home. The winner will meet either Santa Fe or Summer Creek on Saturday at 9 a.m. at Rhodes Stadium.

Cinco Ranch lost its tournament opener against Bellaire, 1-0. The Lady Cougars will host their consolation match Friday at noon at Cinco Ranch in the Cougar Bracket.

Paetow girls battled Cy Creek to a 1-1 tie in regulation, but lost a penalty kick shootout, 5-4. The Lady Panthers will host their consolation match against Kempner on Friday at 8 a.m. in the Panther Bracket.

Morton Ranch lost 1-0 to Houston Heights on Thursday and will face Cy Park on Friday at 10 a.m. at Morton Ranch in the Maverick Bracket.
