Background:
On December 14th, the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center will host a PACT Act Week of Action event to inform Houston area Veterans, their families, caregivers, and survivors about the PACT Act and encourage them to apply for the toxic exposure-related benefits and health care they have earned.
This event will include a short speaking program and VA staff available to help Veterans apply for benefits, complete toxic exposure screenings, and enroll in VA health care. We invite all Vietnam era, Gulf War era, and Post-9/11 Veterans who have questions about the new health care and benefits they may be entitled. VA Under Secretary for Memorial Affairs Matthew Quinn will be in town and speaking at the event.
“Across the state of Texas, there are Veterans who were exposed to toxins like burn pits and radiation during their service and now face health impacts of that exposure,” said Frank Vazquez, Director of the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center. “For too long, Veterans and their families weren’t able to get the toxic exposure benefits and health care they deserve. But now, with the PACT Act, those days are over. Houston VA is here to help.”
