The Arc of Katy’s Board of Directors will host their annual “Achieve with us” Gala, Friday, January 13, 2023.  The event benefits programs that empower and enrich the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families.

The Arc of Katy Board President, Cherie Duddridge recognized Gala Chair Fran Dahl and committee members Fred Shafer and Mary McGovern, working in tandem with Joni B’s Events to plan the Gala.  They are designing a wonderful evening with divine dining and entertainment that embraces this year’s theme, It’s a Mardi Gras Thing!

“The Arc of Katy is actively seeking sponsors, underwriters, silent & live auction items, and volunteers, for the Gala. We invite our community businesses, individuals, and organizations to consider supporting this fundraising event at Beckendorff Farms in Katy,” said Cherie Duddridge.  Tickets, tables, and event information is available by visiting the Gala website: https://events.readysetauction.com/arckaty/2022gala.

This event’s guest speaker is Roderick Batson, a philanthropist, entrepreneur, partner in Katy’s Howdy Homemade Ice Cream franchise, and native of the Houston area. He will share with guests how his inspirational focus and employment practices of his business are complementary to the mission of The Arc of Katy. The evening’s auctioneer is Glenn Beckendorff, a longtime supporter of The Arc of Katy.

“Intellectual and developmental disabilities are disorders that usually present themselves at birth and impact the trajectory of an individual’s physical, intellectual or emotional development including their ability to learn, reason and problem-solve,” Duddridge explained. “With funds raised through our annual gala, The Arc of Katy provides opportunities for individuals diagnosed with IDD such as Down syndrome or autism spectrum disorders to be active respected and fulfilled members of our community.”

“Without the support of our surrounding community, this event would not be possible,” Duddridge said. “We are excited about building new relationships in the community and thankful to the corporations, businesses, individuals, donors, and volunteers who are currently supporting this year’s Gala.”
