The Women’s Fund for Health Education and Resiliency: 12th Annual Rockin’ Resiliency Luncheon

The Women’s Fund for Health Education and Resiliency, a nonprofit providing Houston-area women and girls with the tools needed to be advocates for their health, along with Luncheon Co-Chairs Laura Davenport with her daughter Lucy and Luba Bigman with her daughters, Katya and Keira are hosting a “Girls Who Rule the World” themed 12th Annual Rockin’ Resiliency Luncheon on SundayOctober 30, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. at the Royal Sonesta Hotel.

Emcee ABC13’s Gina Gaston will welcome guests along with girls and women who participate in The Women’s Fund’s Health Education classes to a fun-filled afternoon featuring a musical performance by Partnershools as well as a silent auction featuring luxury and unique packages for self-care, wine and bourbon lovers, fabulous designer bags, fun for the entire family with tickets to Alley Theatre and a Texans game, an ultimate dining experience and so much more. The Women’s Fund supporters can also indulge in a baubles and bubbles champagne raffle for a chance to win a dazzling piece of jewelry from Tego Jewelers.

The Women’s Fund Advisory Board Member, author, coach, entrepreneur and fashion designer Elaine Turner will serve as the luncheon’s keynote speaker. Turner speaks openly and vulnerably about the difficulties she has faced in her life. She has courageously channeled her challenges into connecting more deeply with other women.

Girls will enjoy “Balloon Pop Bags” and all guests can enjoy the shopping extravaganza featuring 20 unique vendors including: Anna Irion, The Branch Boutique, Blu Bijou, David Peck, Dena Lyons LLC, Haute & Cool Chocolates, Kendra Scott, Lev Fine Jewelry, Mighty Aphrodity, Milla and Ella, Mirta Tummino Studio, Project Rsk, Rewined Candles, Rafte Photography, Sannam W  Jewelry, Switch2Pure, Tres Chic, Urban Rocks, The Village Bakery, and Zein.

Prior to the luncheon, all guests are invited to participate in a “You Are Enough: Tips and Tools to Understand Your Feelings” educational program for teens and young girls. Moderated by Wanda Mott, MD, the educational program will promote a healthy discussion on emotions and focus on how to understand mental health and how to seek out tools when feeling new or indifferent things with Frene’ LaCour-Chestnut and Kimeya Courts-Chapman, LPC as panelists.

During the luncheon, The Women’s Fund will recognize Maureen Sanders as the recipient of the Sue Trammell Whitfield Award for Resiliency for her involvement in strengthening the health and wellness of Houston-area women and adolescent girls through her volunteerism, leadership, and philanthropy. The Women’s Fund will also honor Mariam Chacko, MD with The John P. McGovern Foundation “Champion in Women’s Health and Wellness” Award for her dedication to providing exemplary and compassionate service in the field of adolescent girls’ and women’s health and wellness. The Heart of a Volunteer Service Award recipients are Jane and David Braden, MD.
