Fort Bend County Fair Kick-Off Parade

It’s a parade! The iconic Parade will officially kick off the 86th Annual Fort Bend County Fair & Rodeo on Friday, September 23, at 9:00 am. The 2022 Fort Bend County Fair and Rodeo’s 10-day fair run will be from September 23 to October 2, 2022. The Parade is part of the Fair’s festivities that include rodeo action, carnival rides, fair foods, live entertainment, and livestock shows. The Parade will have approximately 200 entries, such as floats, horse-drawn wagons, antique vehicles, trail rides, and marching bands. Leading the Parade will be the Mayors of Fort Bend County – including Mayors of Richmond, Rosenberg, Sugar Land, Needville, Meadows Place, Missouri City, and more.

Crowds as large as 20,000 spectators have lined the parade route in years past. The Parade begins at the Historic Court House in Richmond and proceeds west down Hwy. 90-A to Jennetta Street in Rosenberg. “Generations of Champions” is this year’s fair and Parade theme. Parade judges will be judging the following categories: Youth Civic, School, Commercial, Non-Profit, Queen, Trail riders, Car Clubs, Fort Bend County Fair Committees, businesses, politicians, cheerleader squads, boy scouts, and numerous organizations are expected to participate.

Fair Facts:

  • Fort Bend County Fair Association has committed over $1.4 million to the youth of Fort Bend County through scholarships and fair auctions this past year
  • Eight musical acts will be in concert, providing crowd-pleasing entertainment throughout the 10-day Fair. Artists representing the Texas Music scene, Traditional Country, and Latin Music will be taking the stage.
  • Kicking off our Fair on Friday, September 23, will be the pride of Stephenville, Texas, Giovannie and the Hired Guns, making their debut. The iconic honky-tonk favorite, Kevin Fowler, will take the stage on Saturday, September 24. This performance will be Kevin’s fifth appearance at the Fort Bend County Fair. On Sunday, September 25, Secretto will bring their Latin sounds to the stage. For Wednesday, September 28, 2022, Cat Spring, Texas native Carson Jeffrey will be entertaining. Fort Bend County’s favorite son, Jon Stork, is returning to our Fair on Thursday, September 29. On Friday, September 30, the award-winning vocal group Shenandoah will be in concert. Country music power-hitter, Sammy Kershaw, will perform on Saturday, October 1. To close out the 2022 Fort Bend County Fair, a legendary country music duo, the Bellamy Brothers, will take the stage on Sunday, October 2. All concerts are included in the ticket price.
  • A total of twelve livestock shows will run during fair days, including swine, lamb, goat, turkey, broiler, roaster, steer, rabbit, scramble heifer, commercial halter heifers, pen of two heifers, and bucket calf. Exhibitors representing 4H and FFA organizations will be showing nearly 600 livestock entries.
  • Eleven young ladies are in the chase for the crown and will be the recipient of the Fair Queen Scholarship. Representing schools from several school districts and areas of Fort Bend County.
  • Parade is set for Friday Sept 23. The mayors of the cities of Fort Bend County will be leading the parade- in part to always being a supporter of the fair.
  • Creative art competitions for youth and 4H departments are set
  • BBQ cookoff teams will be fire up the pits and raised the needles on the second weekend of the fair -Oct 1 &2- competing in several different culinary categories.
  • Grapes on the Brazos wine room – Open daily during the fair’s run. Sip on wines, play bingo or trivia, and listen to live music
  • Over 50 committees of 1,500 plus volunteers work together to put on the Fort Bend County Fair
  • The Fort Bend County Fair and Rodeo Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) rodeo is now a qualifier for RodeoHouston.  Fair goers can enjoy rodeo action every night during the Fair’s run. From homegrown to professional, from barrel racing to team roping, come out and cheer on your favorite cowboy or cowgirl.
  • There are plenty of activities for every family to enjoy. Ag-Tivity Barn and the Petting Zoo are daily exhibits to get up close to agricultural and a real live animal experience. Lil Wranglers BBQ contest, Mutton Bustin, Jr Royalty Pageants, Student Fun Day, Pet Show, Exceptional Rodeo, and Stick Horse Rodeo are just a few events that our youngest fairgoers can compete and get involved.
