Galveston Island to Host Drone Shows, Beachfront Parade, and Fireworks for July 4th Weekend

GALVESTON ISLAND, Texas (June 7, 2022) – Galveston Island is the place to be during the 4th of July. The island will host a parade and drone shows along the Gulf, plus fireworks over Offatts Bayou over the long weekend.

New this year are drone shows that will light up the sky. The drone shows will last about 12 minutes and will feature 200 drones flying in patriotic formations. Galveston is the only Gulf Coast destination choosing to feature environmentally friendly drone shows for the 4th of July. The shows will take place at 9 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. at 37th and Seawall Boulevard. In addition to watching the light displays, viewers can sync their phones to music provided by Houston’s KODA-FM 99.1 to enhance the experience.

Leading up to the shows is the annual Independence Day parade featuring a procession of floats, decorated military vehicles and performers. The parade will kick off on July 4 at 6 p.m. on Seawall Boulevard starting at 59th Street and continuing to 25th Street.

If you’re heading down to the island earlier in the weekend, take in Beats on the Beach at Moody Gardens Palm Beach on Saturday, July 2. The fun begins at 7 p.m. with a D.J. spinning fun, family-friendly music. The area is a great vantage point to watch a free fireworks display starting at 9:15 p.m. Moody Gardens will host Beats on the Beach and fireworks every Saturday through the summer season.
