One of the most respected and popular speedboating events in North America, the Texas Outlaw Challenge will kick off its event June 22-26.” It’s gearing up to the Clear Lakes rootinest, tootines installment so far in the series. The 2022 event is back upping the ante with more excitement and public events. The event of the season features million-dollar performance powerboats and offers the opportunity not only to see but to hear the roar of thunderous horsepower and feel the chills and adrenaline pumping through your veins as you experience performance power boating at its best.
The five-day high performance packed event features hundreds of performance boat teams totaling over 500,000 horsepower that will be powering into the area from coast to coast. The action kicks off with an early – arrival welcome party at the Barge 295 in Seabrook on Wednesday evening followed by a Fun Run on Thursday afternoon to Pier 6 in San Leon. Both are great places to view these amazing performance powerboats.
The 15th annual event will once again start with the Stampede Street Party in Kemah, Texas. The streets will be closed so that a parade of million-dollar powerboats, cars, and accessories fill the streets. Stop in, bring the family to experience these massive power machines, check out the local shops, and the saloons, and enjoy the live music and the fireworks displays. It’s a night to mingle with the boat drivers, take a few pictures and see these beautiful machines up close. Enjoy the music, the boardwalk, and the fireworks.
Friday morning, come out to Clear Lake so you can feel the “spray in your face” at the Outlaw National Shootout Championship – Return of the Champions as the performance boats power the waters of Clear Lake on a designated safety course! The Best of Texas gets bigger in this year’s Shootout that will be featured in calmer and safer waters. Return of the Champions and the Shoot-out Radar Runs in a variety of categories featuring speeds well over 201 MPH (past year’s record)! Each are competing for the Top Gun Trophy! Promoter Paul Robinson notes: “This is an invitation-only event as we are very tightly focused on the best and fastest in each category, and we only have time to run about 30 passes safely – that allows us time to do a pass every four minutes”. Winners of previous Shootouts will top the list of those invited – among those committed are Gary Smith, Predator lll Skater, and the Huski Chocolate 54’MTI which nabbed a top speed of 164 at the 2018 event. Traditionally, following the Shootout will be the biggest private and infamous Outlaw Pool Party!
Saturday follows with the Poker Run and the Shotgun Boat Parade leaving Kemah at 10 am and making stops at Bayland Marina, Barge 295, Pier 6, Stingarees, and Harborwalk to name a few with an amazing finale with the Outlaw to the Max event!
The Texas Outlaw Challenge supports the local community and businesses with a substantial economic impact that is estimated at well over $1 million each year.
This hugely popular and significant Texas performance boating event has the support of local Texas cities and city councils, including Seabrook, Nassau Bay, Kemah, and Galveston, and is a U.S. Coast Guard Permit approved event. These are just a few of the charities that benefit from the Texas Outlaw Challenge: Shriners Children’s Hospital, Bridge Women’s Shelter, Today’s Harbor for Children, Clear Creek Environmental Foundation, Kemah Lions Club, Special spaces, Galveston-Houston Families Exploring Down Syndrome, Seabrook Rotary Club and HOME (Help Our Military Endre) are just a few.
