Child Safety Matters
Mondays, June 6 and 13, 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
Children and adults are invited to learn how to prevent, recognize, and respond to the four types of child abuse, as well as bullying, cyberbullying, and digital dangers. This two-session class is presented by experts from the Children’s Assessment Center. This class is for children 5-12.
Bow Tie Pasta Butterflies
Monday, June 6, 12:30 – 2 p.m.
Join us as we use bow tie pasta and paint to make unique works of art to display in your home or give to a friend.
Beginner Summer Karate Classes
Wednesdays, June 8 to Aug. 10, 6 – 7 p.m.
Learn the basics of American karate in these free classes provided by Cypress Warriors Martial Arts. Students will learn techniques, sparring, self-defense, and correct forms. For children 5-12.
Advanced Summer Karate Classes
Wednesdays, June 8 to Aug. 10, 7 – 8 p.m.
For those who have some experience, join these free advanced American karate classes provided by Cypress Warriors Martial Arts. Students will practice techniques, sparring, self-defense, and forms. For children 5-12.
Teen and Adult Summer Karate Classes
Wednesdays, June 8 to Aug. 10, 8 – 9 p.m.
Teens and adults can learn the essentials of American karate in these free classes provided by Cypress Warriors Martial Arts. Students will learn and train in techniques, sparring, self-defense, and forms. For 13 and older.

Thursdays, June 9 and 16, 2 – 3 p.m.
Teens and adults are invited to learn how to prevent, recognize, and respond appropriately to the four types of child abuse, exploitation, trafficking, sexual assault, relationship abuse, bullying, cyberbullying, and digital dangers. The two-session class is presented by the Children’s Assessment Center.
Express Children’s Theatre Presents: The Aztec Princess
Monday, June 13, 1:30 – 2:15 p.m.
Join the Aztec Princess as she tells two classic Mexican fables about making good choices, while teaching English and Spanish vocabulary along the way. Fun for all ages and sparkling with educational values and social/emotional skills. Written by Epig Dominguez and performed by Cynthia Leal. Express Children’s Theatre is Houston’s oldest and largest multicultural performing arts and education organization dedicated to children and families. Visit the Center for a free ticket.
Appreciation Gift for Father’s Day

Join us in making an adorable craft made from ribbon, fabric, and a wooden block. Show Dad how much you love and appreciate all that he does. Volunteer instructor Mary Anne McBride teaches the class.

Award-winning quilter and volunteer Dorothy Yeats introduces children to working with fabrics using scraps and cardboard squares to make wall hangings. Adult supervision is required to handle scissors. All materials will be provided.
Patriotic Planters
Thursday, June 30, 10 – 11:30 a.m.
Join us as we make patriotic planters using recycled cans and paints. The cans will make a great finishing touch for your July 4 barbecue.
Make Your Own Playdough
Thursday, July 7, 9 – 10 a.m.
Come learn how to make your own playdough using ingredients you can find in your kitchen. Everyone will get to take home their own batch. Space is limited to 10 children.
Crafting with Natural Materials: Pine Needle Hedgehog
Thursday, July 7, 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Make a replica of a spiky animal that resides in woodlands, gardens, and parks in different parts of the world. All materials will be provided.
Upcycled Flower Bouquet
Tuesday, July 12, 10 – 11:30 a.m.
Learn how to create beautiful flowers using plastic foam egg cartons and pipe cleaners. Bring your own scissors, and let’s get to work. You’ll be surprised when you see how nice the flowers look in a bouquet and the nice container you’ll decorate.

Water Bottle Flowers
Monday, Aug. 1, 1 – 2:30 p.m.
Turn recycled water bottles into beautiful flowers for a one-of-a-kind three-dimensional picture. All materials will be provided.
Tissue Paper Art
Wednesday, Aug. 3, from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Create colorful three-dimensional art using tissue paper balls as you craft along with other young artists. All materials will be provided.
Paper Mosaic Sunflowers
Thursday, Aug. 11, 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Create gorgeous sunflowers using construction paper and a little imagination. You will learn about Vincent van Gogh’s sunflower paintings. We look forward to finding out which famous painters you like! All materials will be provided.
Adults must accompany all children under 18.
