Today, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) released the following statement after reports confirmed the death of Texas National Guard Specialist Bishop Evans:
“Heidi and I are praying for this Guardsman’s family and loved ones receiving this heart-wrenching news. Over this past year, the men and women of the Texas National Guard and Border Patrol have gone well beyond the call of duty to protect our communities and save countless lives. They’re facing off against a human trafficking and drug trade syndicate that places no value on human life. Taking advantage of the reckless open-border policies of the Biden administration, the cartels across our border regularly leave people to drown as a distraction, knowing Americans will not stand idly by. We must put an end to the lawlessness that cost this heroic Guardsman his life.”
