2022 Texas Aviation Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony & Luncheon Presented By Northrop Grumman Set For Friday, April 22, 2022

The Hall of Fame celebrates its 25th anniversary with the 2022 inductees.

The Lone Star Flight Museum (LSFM) is set to host the Texas Aviation Hall of Fame (TAHOF) Induction Ceremony & Luncheon presented by Northrop Grumman on Friday, April 22 at 11:30 a.m.

The TAHOF Class of 2022 includes Bruce A. Bohannon, Dr. Bernard A. Harris, Jr., Marion P. Jayne, and Mark A. Welsh III, General (ret). This ceremony and luncheon will be held at the Lone Star Flight Museum located at Houston’s Ellington Airport.

Established through a resolution by the 74th Texas Legislature and signed by then Gov. George W. Bush to honor and recognize Texans and Texas companies or organizations that have made significant and lasting contributions to the advancement of aviation. In 1997, the first class including Lloyd Bentsen, President George H.W. Bush, Beryl Erickson and Joe Kilgore were inducted.  This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Hall of Fame and we honor its now 85 members and announce the class of 2022.

Members are included in four categories: trailblazers and explorers, wartime aviators, leaders, entrepreneurs and innovators. The 2022 Texas Aviation Hall of Fame inductees join an impressive list of members including Presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower and George W. Bush, the Doolittle Raiders, Tuskegee Airmen, Bessie Coleman, Eileen Collins, Gene Cernan, Gene Kranz and many more.

2022 INDUCTEES INCLUDE:

Bruce A. Bohannon

Aviation legend, Bruce Bohannon is an accomplished and passionate aerobatic pilot, flight instructor, air racer and aviation record setter. He has won numerous races and set 35 time-to-climb and altitude records in his aircraft “Pushy Galore” and the “Exxon Flyin’ Tiger.”

Dr. Bernard A. Harris, Jr.

Dr. Bernard Harris, Jr. is the first African American astronaut to walk in space. Harris was a flight surgeon at the U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine and ultimately served as a mission specialist on the space shuttle Columbia in 1993 and a payload commander on space shuttle Discovery in 1995, logging 438 hours and over 7.2 million miles in space.

Marion P. Jayne

Marion P. Jayne set world air race records, aviation achievements and championed sharp flying skills. She soloed the Atlantic Ocean twice in single engine planes and is the only U.S. pilot to participate in two world races. Jayne won the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale Gold Medal in 1994 for the longest race to date at 21,000 miles.

Mark A. Welsh III

Mark A. Welsh III, General (ret) led a distinguished 40-year military career culminating in his selection as the 20th Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force. Awarded two Distinguished Flying Crosses for combat missions in Desert Storm, he served in numerous leadership positions including Commander of U.S. Air Forces in Europe before assuming duties as Chief of Staff.
