In a special meeting on Monday, The Katy City Council approved contract adjustments to previously-approved work by FUSED Industries, LLC, and Cooley Construction, LLC.

After unanimously approving an 8-item consent agenda item, Katy Mayor Bill Hastings presented two contract adjustment resolutions for the council’s approval. Both were approved after a series of questions on materials and locations of the work.

The council first considered authorizing the mayor to sign a contract increase worth $7,867 with FUSED Industries for water line/drainage adjustments and paving construction for Patna Drive, Rexora Lane and Caloro Lane in the Riceland Terrace Subdivision, according to city council agenda notes. It was approved by all council members in attendance.

The original contract with FUSED was approved on July 27, 2020, in the amount of $3,777, 954. The updated, projected total cost is now $4,021,797 with the latest change order included.

The second resolution approved on Monday included a 61-day extension to Cooley Construction for the Riceland Terrace Downstream Channel Improvement. The original project was awarded on March 8, 2021, according to agenda notes. The improvement project now has an estimated completion date of Jan. 20, 2022.

Mayor Hastings adjourned Monday’s meeting at 5:38 p.m. The Katy City Council will meet next on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 6:30 p.m. at Katy City Hall, 901 Avenue C. The Dec. 27 council meeting has been canceled, according to the City of Katy website.
